To the Senate of Texas. Gentlemen:

ELECTION PROCLAMATION 1

Whereas, the seat of Senator in the Congress of this Republic for the County of San Augustine has been vacated by the resig- nation of the Hon. H. W. Augustin/ therefore, I Sam Houston, President of the Republic of Texas, do hereby order and direct the Chief Justice of the Said County to cause an election to be held (on Saturday, the 16th day of December next for the elec- tion)* on the first Monday of February next for a Senator to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation aforesaid. In testimony whereof I have caused the seal of the Republic of Texas to be hereunto affixed.
