To the Honble Henry Smith 2 Secy of the Treasury Sir, You will pay out of any monies in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of Six thousand Five hundred, and four dollars, 45/100 cts., agreeably to contract entered into at Columbia on the 18th day of Feby 1837. The above amount is to oe paid out [of] the appropriation of the Civil list. Sam Houston [ P. S. ] The above is in error $ 300-which was deducted and an order on the Treasury for the balance [ Endorsed] : Executive Department Order from the Ex- ecutive Department to pay $6504.45 Jno. H.
