Lord Viscount Palmerston, His Majestys Secretary of State For Foreign Affairs Sir I have the honor by this letter of credence which will be presented by General J. Pinckney Henderson, to accredit to your Lordship that Gentleman whom I have commissioned as an Agent to the Department of Government of Great Britain over which you preside The immediate object of the mission of this Agent is to procure the recognition of the Independence of this Republic by your Government. To this end it is hoped he will be able to present to his Majesty's Government such reasons for the Action on its part which is solicited, as will prove satisfactory. .In conclusion I have the honor to request that full faith, and credit may be given to all he shall say on the part of this Government Given under my hand and great seal of the Republic at Houston this 20th day of June A.
