Gentlemen of the Senate ancl House of Representatives:- I have the honor to lay before you the following reports 2 of the several departments of the government to which they relate. Report of the secretary of the treasury to which is appended,- The report of the treasurer, " report of the secretary of war, All of which are respectfully submitted. To the department of the last named functionary, owing to the pressure of affairs, I omitted making the allusion, in my general message, which I had intended to have made,-a circum- stance I the more Tegret, as I have so much reason to approve the conduct of the officer referred to, who has shown the utmost zeal and ability in the execution of his functions. To THE TEXAS SENATE 1 Executive Department, City of Houston, 19th May 1837. Gentlemen of the Senate: I take pleasure in presenting to you the following names for Revenue Officers 2 at the different ports of Texas. " report of the secretary of the navy, " report of the post master general. For the Port of Galveston, Gail Borden, Collector, For the Port of Brazos, Jeremiah Brown, Collector, For the Port of Matagorda, Thomas Stewart, Collector, For the Port of Beaumont, or Sabine Bay, R. C. Doom, Collector, his control to extend from the Gulf up the Sabine as high as Law's ferry on said River. For the Port of Gain's ferry on Sabine, James Gains, Collector, to include Law's ferry and all crossings of the River Sabine between said point and the thirty second degree of north latitude on said river. From the extent of line which will be necessarily embraced in this recommendation, I would respectfully suggest that in
