Huntsville, 19th May, 1853. Dear Sir Your promised favor has reached me, and as it calls for a reply from me, I will thank you to send me a copy of your letter addressed to me at Washington City, during the first session of the Thirty Second Congress. This request is made, in as much, as I wish to have the whole correspondence before me. Having understood that you retain a copy of your letter, I hope that you will not deem me tr:oublesome in making request of one so soon as convenient, that I may he able more speedily to send you my reply. Huntsville, 10th June, 1853. My Dear Miller The package of letters came safe to hand, & was duly passed over to its address. As you do not incline to come and see me, I am inclined to go and see you. Now you can get up a meeting, and invite me and Rusk to Austin, and I wish to go there if possible. I would say sometime in the month of July, say about the 15th or 20th would be about the time. On the 4th of July, I expect to be at Palestine and speak there. [The speech at Palestine, if delivered, has not been found.] This matter is p1·ivately suggested, and for your own eye, and when you have read the letter, burn it!!! I would like to see the people of Austin very well! Col. Wa:rd~ is, I see, sent as Consul to Panama. Now tell Caruthers (my cousin), if he is sober, to call on Col. Ward & ask him if he will pay me what he owes me. He said to me in the presence of General Rusk that he would pay me if it was not paid. Now, if my cousin will nat attend
