TO HEZEKIAH BR0WN 1

Washington 11th May 1852. Respected Friend, I thank you for the complimentary request which you have chosen to make of me; My absence from the city, on a visit·to see my family is the only excuse, which I have to render, for not answering your letter sooner. Should I again Lecture in the "City of Friends," I will try and contrive you word, with much pleasure. Sam Houston Mr. Hezekiah Brown. 1 From a photostatic copy furnished by The Historical Society of Penn- sylvania. To ROBERT G. ScoTT 1 . "Willards Hotel," Washington, D. C., May 20, 1852.
