Wigwam Neosho 28th June 1830 My dear Houston This will reach you by the hand of General Campbell, an honest, intelligent, & brave man. I need not say that he has my friendship. While he is in Washington please render him any service in your power. He has been badly treated by the management of Mr. McKenney in the Indian Department. Genl C-is the Cousin of Colonel C. Treasurer of the U. States. You can tell the General much of the under currents of your city, and I trust you will do so, as it can be done in safety. Write to me at the Post and I pray you to give me the news. My business is going on well enough, and in a few days I hope to begin my sales-Tell my dear little God daughter that I must make a fortune, and give her, a marriage portion, and that is some fifty cows and calves, in this country. How is my dear Cousin Gertrude and the little ones? I have not seen so pretty a Babe since we parted as yours-he is a noble boy. Where is Miss Berryan-Oh, Houston she is a woman among all the Daughters of men! When a world were ready to condemn me, she was my friend-I commission you to salute her in the warmest-kindest _terms of the most grateful affection for· me! And assure her that my grateful friendship shall never be withdrawn from her until my heart proves Renegade, to every virtue! Keep me advised of her health; where she is and all that interests her! Give my very affectionate regard to my cousin. Kiss my dear, dear daughter, and say that by fall I hope to send her a pair of mockasins that will correspond with her pretty bright hair, and black eyes! Kiss Sam, & the Babe-by the by, that
