ELECTION PROCLAMATION 1

Be it known that I Sam Houston President of the Republic of Texas in accordance with a resolution of the House of Repre- sentatives, informing me that the Hon. H. H. Edwards has tendered and they accepted the resignation of his seat as Repre- sentative for the County of Nacogdoches and that the same is now vacant, do order and proclaim that on the First day of De- cember next there shall be an Election held at all the precincts in the said County of Nacogdoches for a Representative of said County in the present Congress and the first or second Judge of said County is commanded to hold the election for Representa- tive on the day above named. The person holding the Election shall appoint the Judges of Election and the Clerk for each pre- cinct and shall qualify the same and if by reason of the short- ness of time the said holder of election cannot select and qualify the Judges for any of the precincts in said County, the People in any such case shall elect the same by viva-voce, The returns of
