TO JAMES PRENTISS 1
Washington City, 16th June 1832. My dear Sir, Your favor has come to hand and I thank you for it. You did not apprehend me about the money necessary for the support of a companion·to me on the route, and in the country. All that I wished was leave to draw if it should _be necessary from some point, or from Texas, say for $ 500.00 if absolutely necessary. Dont think that I feel any solicitude about the mat- ter, for I do not unless it might be as much, or more to the advantage of the company. I might be unwell at a time when it might be important for you to be advised of affairs. I did intend, and I am willing now to interest the young man that I might take along in whatever future interest the company might give to me (or conditional interest now to be arranged). As to the Scrip which I received you need feel no solicitude about it, for one acre has not been sold, nor need you fear a-ny danger from it!
