Resolution directory to the Governor of the State of Tennessee Whereas it is a matter of considerable inportance to the citi- zens living in the states west of the Alleghany mountains & in the Valley of the Mississippi who are in the habit of ascending and descending the Mississippi River, to have a Hospital erected at the town of Memphis in the state of Tennessee for the relief of the sick and diseased persons of said states who often land at that point; and whereas the state of Tennessee ha~ made an appropriation for that purpose,- Therefore--Resolved that the Governor of the state communi- cate with the Governors of the states interested in the navigation of said River with a view to invite the cooperation of said states in •any appropriation they may think proper to make to said object-- John H.
