MUSTER ROLLS OF THE TEXAS REVOLUTION

A list of men who were engaged in the battle at the San Jacinto, April 21st, 1836. Also annexed the men who were sick and detailed to remain at the upper encampment. Wm. Gorham.

The State of Texas } County of Travis

Personally came and appeared before me Phineas De Cordova, a Notary Public, in and for Travis County, duly commissioned and sworn, Jesse Billingsly a citizen of Bastrop County, to me personally known, who being sworn deposes and says that the annexed paper purporting to be "A list of those composing the First Regiment of Texas Volunteers, present at the Battle of San Jacinto, April 21st 1836, commanded by Col. Edward Burleson" was made out by William Gorham on the Battle ground by order of Col. Edward Burleson, the day after the Battle and includes those who were at the encampment at Harrisburg. The said list was given to affiant by General Burleson and has been in his possession ever since; said paper is in the hand writing of said Gorham and has an endorsement on the back signed by said Gorham. Witness says said list does not embrace those members of said Regiment who were on furlough out of his Com- pany. Affiant says that Edward Blakey of his company was on furlough to attend to his widowed mother. Thomas S . McGehee and Noel Mixon of his company were also absent on furlough to attend to their families, and only reach- ed the battle ground on their return the day after the Battle. J.D. Morris of his company was detailed to wait on Col. J .C. Neil who was wounded on the 20th of April, and his name was accidentally omitted from the list of af- fiant's company. James Stewart of his company and also George Duty were sick on the ground and did not go into the battle. There were three men who joined affiant's company on the morning of the battle, and participated in it, whose names do not appear in the list of his company. These names he cannot now recollect. "No. 499" Jesse Billingsley.

Sworn and subscribed before me, this 22nd day of December A.D. 1855. Witness my hand & official seal.
