l have the honor to enclose herewith a copy of the joint report of Capt R. B. Marcy and myself who were ap- pointed by the authorities of the General Government to select the lands for Indian purposes authorized by Act of the Legis- lature of the State of Texas approved Feby 6th 1854; you will also please find the field notes, and plots of Surveys of said lands, as finished by Capt. R. B. Marcy, with his letter on that subject. I beg leave to inform you that the whole subject has been submitted to the proper Departments of the Genl. Gov- ernment; the selections approved of, and provisions made to carry the policy of colonizing the Indians on the lands into im-
