Governor:

Having been authorized by the President of the United States, to call on your Excellency (in the event of its necessity, and that necessity appearing to me now to exist) for such a force of mounted men as I may deem proper, I now make on your Excellency, a requisition for three companies of mounted men for the period of six months,-unless sooner discharged by order of the President of the United States-the strength of each com- pany to consist of one Captain, one first, and one second, lieuten-
