I have the honor to transmit, herewith a copy of a letter dated the 23rd instant from the Commissioner of Indian Affairs together with the copy of letter of U. S. Indian Agent J. M. Haworth therein noted in relation to a Comanche Indian boy now incarcerated in the Penitentiary at Austin, Texas, and respectfully invite your attention to the suggestion of the Commissioner in relation to the release of the boy; and, his return to his people, as indicated in the letter of Agent Haworth. I shall be pleased if you will express your views upon this subject to this Department at your earliest convenience Very respectfully Your obedient servant C. SCHURZ Secretary.
