Sir: "I have the honor to report for Your information, that no Indian depredations, of any import, oc- cured within the limits of this County recently, except the Kill- ing of a Mr. G. Pendleton on a Creek Known as the San Geron- imo, about eighteen miles N.W. of this City; he was found sev- eral days after the Sad occurrence about 3 hundred yards from his house- mutelated shockingly and as normal in such Cases Scalped-the Indians drove away Some horses from the Vicin- ity imedeately after the occurrence- the number of animals taken by them I have not yet ascertained. Rumors reach here from time to time of Depredations Committed outside of the limits of this County; the Sarne being beyond my Jurisdiction no reports have been forwarded thereof to your Department."
