I am familiar with the Chiefs, and head men of the dif- ferent tribes at the Wichita Agency. They have written to me and begged that I would represent their present neglected con- dition to the Dept. They are faithful and honest, and I trust it will be agreeable to the President, and those who have charge of their affairs, to have immediate steps taken in their behalf, and make serviceable to them the liberal appropriations granted by Congress.
