Bureau of Indian Affairs Washington June 19, 1844

To Mr. Benj. Sloat Agent Council Ground Sir

Referring you to my communication of the 6th and 15th inst. the first of them pr. Duplicate I have now to say that, I have just been informed tho' unofficially that some of the horses stolen by the Waco or other Indians, perhaps those from Little River, have been returned and delivered to you, but I have no advice from you to that effect. I sincerely hope this report may prove true, and that those taken from the Colorado settle- ment are among the number returned, it is not only important but absolutely necessary that you should give me the earliest information of any accounts of this nature, and I trust you will communicat.e to me all the facts in relation to this matter imme- diately, together with any other information relating to indians and indian affairs in your section of the frontier.
