Above you have Messrs Torrey & Co a/c of articles which we have been compelled to give the Co- manche, and which the Govt must pay. Messrs T & Co have also given about the same amount of their own pockets. Had it been in our power we should have given them about $500. worth of Presents at this time and had them deducted from the amt of Sept presents. with which they would have been perfectly satis- fied- Yours etc.
