Ejcrcito de operacioncs. - Los viveres y dinero que V. S. debe haber recibido de Matamoras, los hara remilir a Guadalupe Victoria, conforrne con las ordenes que V. S. tiene de S. E. el general en gefe y del senor general Urrea, sin disponer de olra cantidad que de la de mil pesos, segun lo indico el mismo senor general, y de las raciones muy precisas, pues es preciso observar la mayor econom1a. La caballeria-venida de Matamoros, obrara V. S. con ella, tambien conforme con las disposiciones que le ha dictado el Sr. general Urrea dandome parte inmediatramente de haher cumplido esta orden. General,
The undersigned Major General Commanding the United States Western Department, having been ordered by the President of the United States to the western frontier of the State of Louisiana, for the purpose of restraining the Indians residing within our limits, from crossing the unmarked Line between the United States and Mexico, and from committing depredations upon the inhabitants on the Mexican or Texas side of the said unmarked Line, and for the purpose of maintaining the neutrality of the United States during the disturbances, which, unhappily, exist among our western neighbours of Mexico and Texas --being . desirous to correct error and obviate misconception in reference to the objects of his late and intended movements, has deemed it proper to authorize Major E. A. Hitchcock, actin Inspector General, the bearer hereof, to repair to the interior of Texas, accompanied by Surgeon Findley and Lieut. Griffin, with a small
