Memorandum of agreemenL beLween Robert Triplett Gen- eral Agent for the Texian GovernmenL on one part and Capt Thomas Bridges master of Lhc Schooner Urchin on the other part viz. The said Capt. Bridges agrees lo Lake as deck passengers to Texas any convenient number of men which the said Robt. Triplett may send al the rate of eight dollars per man the capt. is lo report to the officer commanding the station where he may arrive that he has men for the Government and will lake a certificate or receipt for them lo the Secretary of the Treasury and if he should be unable lo pay the amount clue for their passage, Capt. Bridges agrees to take his drafL on the Texian agent in Lhis city. The said Robt Triplett authorises the said Bridges Lo furnish the officer commanding or in char~e of the men senL on board the Urchin (out of the Provisions on board belonging lo the Texian government) what may be required for their subsistence on the voyage for which Capt Bridges is to take the receipt of the officer to whom it may be delivered and the freight on which shall be due as if it had been delivered in Texas and the said Capt Bridges is to supply the men only with waler. . Done double in New Orleans June 2d 1836 R. Triplett not wishing to disappoint Capt Bridges as to the prospect of gelting payment in Texas deems it proper to slate that payment cannot be made there, but will be made hy the a~ency here out of the first money not otherwise appropriated which may come to the agency on account of the government of Texas.
