[2858) [HUNT to GREEN] [Memucan Hunt, Clinton, Miss., to Thomas J. Green, April 24, 1836, concerning the desire of Genl. Dunlap of Tennessee to raise a division to go to Texas, stating that Dunlap has appointed him Brigadier General, and stating that "Col. J. Pinckney Henderson of Linconton N.C. sets out in a few days for our native state to aid me."] [2859) [SHERMAN to HARRISON] Headquarters in Camp at Brasos April 24, 1836 Personally appeared before me, Sidney Sherman, Col. Comdt. of 2nd Regts. Texas Colunteers, Lt. A. L. Harrison of Company F. and deposeth as follows: viz., that the same Harrison had a horse and a gun in the Texian service and that said horse was valued, or appraised by Capt. W. B. Harrison, Col. Crockett, and Lieut. Robert Campbell, at Eighty-five Dollars, and the gun was was valued by the same persons at thirty-five Dollars, and that all these appraisers fell in the Defense of the Alamo at San Antonio, and that all his, the said Harrison's comrades are dead, and that he has not the means of proving his properly in the manner prescribed by law. The same Harrison also deposeth that he entered the service of Texas, on the first of December last as a volunteer from the United States, and that all his officers are now dead, and that he cannot get a regular discharge from the captain of his company.

I have just learned that Col. Forbes_ ~djutant General has been QUilty of the outrageous offence of killing a woman on the 21st I~st. as I conceive our glorious struggle to be at an en?, and as I do not wish to stain the character of any man engaged with us on that memorable day, I therefore merely wish you lo discharge him from the service, as you must be well aware that no honorable man
