To Honorable M B. Lamar Secy of War
Sir I avail myself of a Leisure moment for the purpose of addressing through you the Cabinet of the Executive Government of Texas in doing so I must in advance disclaim any intention in the slightest degree to mingle in the Politicks of the Country what I say shall be from at least an honest Conviction of duty upon my part I have uttered Complaints on the subject of provisions and supplies until I have lost Confidence in their efficacy and have come to the conclusion that we must perform a dull peace campaign without clothing or any thing to eat or medicines to relieve the pains of the Sick of which we have many in the Army No more upon this head As to the policy now to be pursued and here I have only time and opportunity to throw out some few hints It is believed that the Policy pursued with Santa Anna has been an injurious one and if followed up but a few Steps f urlher will be ruinous to this Country
