Velasco 27 May 1836 Sir I am instructed by the President and Cabinet to say to you that inasmuch as important charges have recently occured, it has been deemed necessary to dispatch to Washington two -----···-· for the purpose of representing this Government there. It was conceived mosl advisable to select Gentlemen who are now in this country, because they could be more fully informed of the views of this Government and the wishes and interests of the people. These Gentlemen are Peter W. Grayson and James Collinsworth, Esqs., to whom you will be pleased to communicate any valuable information which you may possess, affording them al the same lime every possible facility in consumating the objects of their mission. In recalling you the President and Cabinet arc not unmindful of your disinterested efforts in the service of your country but have acted on the conviction that at this crisis of
