Dear Sir,
On account of the destruction of Harrisburg it is impossible for me to Transact the Judicial business of the district at that place until such time as I can erect a building for the purpose and procure the means of subsistence. The first place below Harrisburg that can aford accomodations is at Lynches-I therefore Petition that your Excellance order the Judicial business of the district to be transacted at that place for the time being. It is important that I should receive your orders on this subject as early as practicable, there is considerable Business, (Particularly in the Notarys office) and the people know not where to attend for its accomplishment. With due Respect and Esteem Your most Obt Svt H H League Judge His Excellency David G Burnet President [3124) [SECRETARY OF TREASURY to the PUBLIC]
[Secretary of Treasury, Mexico, to the Public, May 21, 1836, announcing the capture of Santa Anna.]
