It is indispensably necessary that something should be done with the Brig Pocket as she is now a Texian vessel, if she lays here 30 days longer her bottom will be complete[ly] eaten through by worms-I would suggest her being employed as a Govt. Transport for Stores, Ammunition, Troops &c, under the Command of a Sailing Master appointed for that purpose. The Captain of the San Jacinto has kindly offered to await the return of this express, that the Govt. may have an opportunity to forward their despatches to the U. S.

Sir
Genl. Zavala is here and complains that he is put to considerable inconvenience in consequence of his house being made use of as a hospital for the sick and wounded prisoners. You will please therefore, upon receipt of this to order the Cayuga to proceed · immediately to the residence of Gen. Zavala; with instructions to bring the sick and wounded to Galveston. This order has reference to the prisoners solely, but should any of the sick or wounded Texians request to come in the Cayuga, you will instruct Capt. Harris to bring them, otherwise you will give orders to have arrangements made for their comfort in the neighborhood of Genl. Zavala.
Respectfully yours Mirabeau B. Lamar Seery War
Col Morgan Commd. Galveston
