Dios y libertad. Mision <lei Refugio, Mayo 17 de 1836. - Jose Urrea. - Escmo. Sr. general de division D. Dear Brother
Your letter of the 28th Jany is now before me. I regret to hear of your wifes ill health & sincerely hope that ere this her health has been restored You enquire of me "whelher I think it would be to your interest to emigrate to this country I will only say in reply that at this time there is no country on earth presents so wide a field for the speculation as texas: lands of the first quality can now be purchased from 10 to 20 cents per acre that will in all human probability in five years be worth as many dollars-but I do not believe that the opportunity of buying land at this price will continue long. as soon as the war is at an end and the country becomes tranquil lands will rii-e rapidly. my advice would be this to every man who wishes to come to Texas at this time if he is making money where he is stay there for a while at leasl but if on the other hand his fortunes like mine depended on a bold push Texas is his country without delay
