By a resolution of this Board I am directed to forward you copy of a letter to Com. Dallas, and as as you informed Mr. Edwd. Andrews of Brazoria that documents were found on board the American Brig Pocket establishing the fact that her Cargo belonged to the Mexican Government and was intended for the Army in Texas under the command of Genl St Anna, and would consequently be condemned as "contraband of war" and as Eight thousand Dollars on said Cargo is Insured by this Company you will please forward copy of said Condemnation properly certified so as to be evidence in our Courts and oblige You, obt Si.: John K West President P.S. Lamar having proposed to the honorable convention of the delegates of the people of Texas asembled in the Town of Washington to proceed forthwith and raise by contribution in men, money, and munition of war, and having proposed to throw himself on the fuiure gen~rosii.y of the governme,1t to m.Jce him compensation, and the honorable Convention having passed a resolution accepting the proposition and requesting that he be deputed the agent of this Government for that purpose, I David G. Burnet, President of the Republic, in view of the resolution do hereby authorize the paid John T. Lamar to proceed to raise such
