It has been determined by the President and Cabinet to procure the Brig Hope, lately arrived at Galveston, to press round to the West end of the Island and to discharge her from that point by Steam boats. It being important to Keep our increasing army furnished with necessaries it is requested that You will cause the following articles to be put on board the Hope to be conveyed to this point from whence they could be conveniently sent to the army-to wit. 25 Sacks Coffee 10 boxes Sugar 50 boxes Soap 300 bbl Bread including the quantity to be put on board

10 Kegs bar lead 20 bags buck Shot 2 Kegs musket balls 30 Kegs Powder 50 Sacks Salt 2 tierces Rice & 10 Kegs Lard. The Hope will bring all the artillery munitions of war and other articles belonging to the public on board-as they will all be wanted at this point.

The Subscribers beg leave to suggest to your body that they view with feelings of the deepest concern the present condition of the republican army now in the field for whom if we are correctly informed only a few days supplies are on hand, no suggestion from us we are aware could add lo your com;ction of the necessity of measures being ta.ken to remidy their condition. We regret that it is not in our power to come forward afford the aid which has been suggested by some of your body as necissary for present exigencies without doing injustice to ourselves & our Friends we have been labouring under similar dificulties from the
