[3008) [HALL to BURNET)
New Orleans May 10, 1836
His Excellency President Burnet Dear Sir
Your letter of the 29th by the Schooner Flash, was received too late to get the articles you wish to put on bo~d of this Scho, but I hope by the next to be able to forward them to you. Col. Triplett has not yet arrived; Col. Gray left him on board a Scho at the Sabine to come by water, but he does not yet appear, 'tis to be hoped he will not be much longer, for 3 or 4 vessels are waiting his arrival and no orders can be filled until he does come, which places me in a very unpleasant situation. Your confirmation of the Glorious news of the Battle and capture of Santa Anna, Cos &c. is truly· cheering and will raise the credit and character of Texas, I hope, sufficiently to have her placed on a footing with the most favored Nations. Capt Stansberry with 60 or 70 men take passage in this vessel and I hope will arrive safe and although too late to share in the late victory, may tender great service in future contests. I refer you to the papers and Mr Bryan's letter for further news. And have the honor to be Your Obt & very Humb Servt. Edwd. Hall [3009) [HOUSTON to MORGAN]
