Head Quarters, Sallie Ground, San Jacinto, 29th April, 1836 The Commanding General has received the report of the Court of Inquiry held on the 28th inst.; of which Col. Sherman was President, commending the conduct of Col. John Forbes, Commissary General, and also honorably acquitting him of all censure from reports circulated against him after the action of the 21st inst. Hereby approves the same. The Commanding General takes great pleasure in recognizing Col. Forbes as an officer of merit and diligence, and expressing the renewal of his increased confidence. By order of Sam Houston, Commander-in-Chief. War Dept., Camp San Jacinto, 29th April, 1836. I take great pleasure in adding my entire concurrence in Geo. W. Hockley lnsp. General.

To the Editor of the Free Trader:
Sir, - Having just returned from a trip to Nacogdoches, made for the purpose of obtaining information concerning the fate of my son, who fell in defending th Alamo, I take this method to correct the erroneous news in circulation among my fellow citizens, concerning the position of the belligerents of Texas, and concerning the part which the Indian tribes, near the frontiers, are likely to act in this mementuous and exterminating crusade against civil and religious liberty. I found the inhabitants of Nacogdoches on my arrival there, in the utmost alarm, occasioned by a report that a combined
