Bexar, April 20, I 83:i. By the post of Nacogdoches which arrived yesterday I received Lhe correspondence of Captain Don Antonio Tenorio, copies of which go wilh this. You will find out the difficulties ancl inconveniences which uccurred before they came lo my hands. * * «· Said correspondence gives a prelly f!;Ood and clear idea of the situation and confirms whatever I have said to you concerning the colonists and the critical circumstances in which Captain Tenorio now finds himself, without even means for the most indispensable necessaries. In view of all this then, and because, on account of the scanty resources which the custom house at Matagorda gives, I have no means to help him, I have no doubt that you, pitying the misery in which the detachment of Galveston is, will dictate the most active measures so that I may receive help from ~latamoras with the promptilud1! which is demanded for the best service which Lite urgent necessity indicates. To this day Lite officer of the company of the Alamo who went to Matamoras for the funds of that company and those of the company of Oexar has not returned; and for the reason not only is there no money lo help Tenorio, but it has not even been possible to complete tlu~ payment of lhl' troops; even the officers having received only a part of their pay. r Domingo de Ugartechea I [To Marlin Perfecto de Cos]
