I have some tools making and will be on in twelve or fifteen days. \Ir. Griggi and four i\lexicans were killed by a party of Indians 011 the 6th inst. al their camp within two hundred yards of \Ir. Ca~tlcman's house, and took goods lo the amounl of two thousand dollars. They were pursued the next day and overtaken at the Rio Blanco and four or five killed, one of which was the Chief whose scalp we have. The company returned on Lhe 11 Lh all well, bringing in goods to the amount of seven hundred dollars and thirteen scalps. To Wit. The Chiefs Scalp, taken by Dr. Miller :\Ir. Griggi Do taken at Lhe camp 4 \Iexicans Do taken by the Indians l Supposed lo be Mr. Edwards 1 Do Dr. W. Whiles 2 Other White men scalps unknown 3 Indian Scalps 13 in number It appears these Indians were about one Hundred in number and had followed Mr. Stoul from Bexar. We hold ourselves in Readiness and expect a call from these daring wretches.
