Dear Sir

I got home last night from Matagorda, I was informed by Robt. Boyce that you got a Bbt of Whiskey for me & in consequence I [illegible] otherwise, we have got a letter from Edward this morning dated at Sat1illo, & he intends staying out the Fair, Sales quite dull, he says that their is from 3 to 600 Troops about to march from their for Texas. There is some lrouble likely to be in the State of Tamulipaz in consequence of the .inlendecl shutting of the Port of Matamoras. Genl. Cos is looked for al Bejar hourly from Matamoras with some 300 Men we have got a New Comadante Militar in Goliad Don Francisco Sandoval Lieutenant Col of the Moraloz Batalion, and Western says a first rate clever fellow of his kind, so we go- I have just [illegible] the Bay and I expect he brings good for me to conclude by vociing that on our affects may [illegible]

At a very respectable meeting of lhe citizens of Matagorda, convened on the morning of the 26th of September, 1835, for the ·purpose of taking into consideration certain documents and communications received by the committee of vigilance and safety for this town relative to proceedings had at San Felipe de Austin; Wm. J. Russell was elected Chairman, and Seth Jngrnm Secretary, The documents were read and submitted lo lhe meeling for their consideration. On motion, it was agreed thal a Commitlce of five be appointed by the Chairman, lo prepare a report and draft resolutions to be submitted to this meetin~ for their approval or adoption.
