Jan. 1 1835 to Sep. 30 1835 - PTR, Vol. 1

Government, the immediate liberation of the "Correo," her captain and crew. Captain Thompson is duly commissioned by the Mexican Government, and was engaged in the exercise of the public function which had been confided to him, when Lhe "San Felipe," aided by the insurgents of Texas, seized upon him and his vessel, in the waters of the -republic, without commission or authority lo that effect. If Captain Thompson has given just cause of complaint, proper remonstrances should have been addressed to the Mexican Government, of which he is the acknowledged officer, and I do not hestiate to say that justice wou Id have been done. But the act of the captain of the San Felipe, and the detention of the Correo and her crew, are flagrant violalions of the laws of nations, against which I protest, in the name of the nation which I represent, as its consul. I am, sir, &c., Francisco Pizaro Martinez. To Henry Carleton Esq., Attorney of the U.S. for the district of Louisiana.
