Lynchburgh, on San Jacinta river, Texas, Sept 8th, 1835. I do nol think il would be prudent for you and our family to come lo Texas, until the affairs of the country assume a more peaceful aspect. Santa Anna has applied lo the priests for two millions of dollars, and six thousand men, lo put down the rebels of Texas (as he styles us). We are preparing for war in every part of Texas-not PARTJSAN war, hut CONSTITUTIONAL war, as did our fore- fathers in the revolution.
