At a meeting of the citizens of the Colorado river held in the Town of Mina on the 7th day of Sept 1835 whereupon Hon! Thos J. Gazley was called lo the Chair and L. C. Cunningham was elected Seely. after which the house was called lo Order by ·the Chair and anounced [sic] itself to be ready for business whereupon F. C. Jack Esqr Rose and addressed the President and Citizens Present & Proceedtd to read the Procedings [sic] of a meeting held in Columbia on the 15th Augt 1835 and also the Procedings and report of the Committee of Safety and Correspondence held in the Town of Velasco on the 18th Augt 1835 and the Procedings & resolutions of a meeting [sic] of the citizens of the Jurisdiction of Washington held in the Town of Washington on the 31st August 1835 also the Procedings and resolutions of a meeting of the citizens of the Jurisdiction of Nacogdoches, held in the Town of Nacogdoches on the 15th August 1835. together with sundry other Papers & documents giving information of the feelings of the Citizens at other Places in Texas and also the Procedings of a meeting of the citizens of the Town of San Felipe held on the 29th August 1835. After which Col R Andrews arose and addressed the Chair & submitted some information to the meeting important to the Citizens of Texas concerning the movements of Genl Coss [sic] and other Mexican officers. After which J. W. Bunton Esqr rose and addressed the chair and Proposed resolutions as follows Resolved That in all countries the voice of the majority should Prevail Resolved Thal the Ayuntamicnto of this Jurisdiction he requested to CaU the People of this Jurisdiction together at this Place on the 15th Inst. for the Purpose of ascertaining the Sense of the People upon Lhe Subject of convention or no convention and that if a convention is agreed upon an election be then held by the Ayuntamicnto for· Delegates to represent Lhis Jurisdiction in the Same Convention, and after the Propriety or impropriety of Passing the foregoing resolution was fully and ably discussed by J. W. Bunton, Esqr and P. C. Jack_ Esqr in Support of Said Resolution.
