I would just say lo you although you well know it that the affairs of Texas at this moment hangs 011 a slender thread. If Col. Barrett fails in his objects in going lo the Colonies Col. Ugarlechea will march with all the Cavalry he can raise in search of those men and what will be the co11ser1ue11ce, lhe beginning of a war between Texas and the Government will be the excuse of his march Lo the Colonies. He must go for he has been ordered to do so. The order I have seen and he will comply, this you well know and you well know that he is a stranger to fear and will if possible comply with the orders of his superiors. The time will soon come when the Colonists must be wide awake and know what they are doing. If is one all important step for them to be united for in my opinion a difficulty hangs over them that wiH show. Let the Gov't change or not it appears to be the determination to lake troops there and this will not meet the approbation of the Colonists and they should he ready and prepared to meet events as they [tornj.
