A Card. The undersigned announces in the public manner Lhal the office of the reception of colonists in the "U ppcr colony" is now opened al San Felipe, persons desirous of ac<tuiring land can do so with perfect security in their titles. The rights of those persons legally established anterior lo the 15th of April 183] and of those introduced and scllled after 22nd of May 1834 and before Lhe 18th May, 1835, will in every instance be respccled, provided the claimant has nol inlcrfered with previous locations and surveys. The undersigned would recommend those who wish to obtain land lo make their applications al an early period in order that the necessary plots and surveys may be completed.

J received yours dated the 14th of August 1835 I have been waling with a great deal of patience, lo hear from you. I had given it out, from ever hearing from you again but lo my greal surprise, _I received a letter from you, I have been as l concieved it negligent, for not writing you sooner but I beg to be excused, I have been busy doing some lillle business for the political chief and attending lo other affairs Lhal it was almost impossible for me to write you, I am in great hopes you will be more regular in · writing lo me, than you have been heretofore, and I will do the same, our village has been and is yet in such a stale of confusion, that l scarcely once· thought of you a few of the individuals of Columbia have come lo this place and held their meeting. It was termed by several in fact numbers Lhal il was a Columbia meeting, and not a San Felipe meeting there were some three or four that allcnded il, the rest stood off and gazed on I.ml said nothing. the principal part of the people of San Felipe are opposed lo a convention or any thing resembling it after the meeting was
