IL would, therefore, be advisable for the Supreme Government, not lo delay in sending troops lo the frontier; but they should come in large numbers, lo impose respect; otherwise, the stationment here of a small party of soldiers would induced the disaffecled to persevere in their mischievous designs, and to call Lo Llu~ir assistance the reckless men of the neighboring country, and these are nol few. I would beg Your Lordship lo give me a leave uf al,sence for one month, lo go to Bexar, where I could have an opportunity to converse with you about other business of importance, that cannot be trusted in writing, in asmuch as I am convinced that my correspondence is opened at San Felipe. Dear Sir:-By my man I received yours and noticed its contents, since that the Political horizon has so changed that it engrosses all other considerations, we are here in a continual state of alarm, and, indeed there is good reason to Le so, our new would be styled government, or its minions have commenced, I think, a little to fast, lo shew the Cloven fool. The new Colonel, (Nicolas Comley) commenced in Goliad, by pulling the Alcalde in the Calabous, made the Administraclor give him $5,000 in teri hours notice or go to Bexar, prisoner and on fool. He threatens to be in San Felipe in a month for the purpose of burning it, &c. They have taken the arms that formerly belonged lo the town, and always were deposited with the town authorities, and issued an order to press all those that can be got at lo enter the ranks as soldiers; it was given officially that the troops would have to be supported by the people, by five in a family with all its concomitants. &c. I have, as well as others lo keep my horse constantly ready lo put off, as il is said that I am a liberal, and not in favor of a Military Government; as for myself I know of no other fault, I have taken no other part hut expressed my opinions as though I had a right lo do so.
