Principal Commandancy of Coahuila & Texas

Having received the anticipated order from the commandant General to proceed to the apprehension of Don Lorenzo Zavala, and knowing positively that the said gentleman has landed in Brazoria and is now in Columbia, I apply to you in order that you may be pleased to use every possible effort to secure the person of this individual, and those of Johnson Williamson, Travis, WiJJiam & Baker, with the assurance that in doing it you will render a commendable service to the country. The apprehension of those individuals being effected you will take measures that they be kept in custody to prevent their flight, giving me immediate advice that arrangements may be made, to bring them in safety to this city. Such a service will prove the pacific and honorable intentions of that Municipality, truly obedient to the Govt of the Mexican Republic; in the belief that every omission in this particular will make you rcsponsable and will oblige me to send an impsoing force lo that district with the above object. Be pleased to accept the assurances of my consideration & regard. God & Liberty l3cxar 4th of August 1835
