Your officio dated July 25th al Sanfclipe reaelwd me last evening, which informs me that Capt T1\norio former commander al Anahuac has applied t:o you for assistance in recovering the arms and accoutrements which were given up by him on his surrender of that place. I am sorry to inform you that I believe it Lo be out of my power Lo obtain possession of said arms & accoutrements from various reasons - Viz, at the time Capt. Tenorio made a surrender of his arms, they were distributed lo such persons as assislt'd in obtaining possession of them many of which persons arc residents of Anahuac, Trinity River, Galveston & Sanjacinto by and of this place and its vicinity, consequently it would take some time ml<I trouble to collect them from their being in possession of so many different persons all residing in different places and furthermore all the persons that l have scc11 who arc in possession of said arms appear lo he unwilling Lo give them up ! torn I as they eanw i11 possession of them.
