As Lhe desires of his Excellency Lhe President pro Lem. on this subject, are of Lhc most ardent nature, and as Lhe naLion is interesLed in their accomplishment, l am of opinion that I shall not go too far in repealing lo your Excellency, thaL you use your utmost efforts in order thal they may he fulfilled: and for the purpose of beller attaining this end, your Excellency may immediately acl in concert with the Commandant general of thal stale, Lo whom, as your Excellency will have seen in the '•Diario <lei Gobierno" No. 34 of the 3rd. of the current month the strictest injunctions have been given through the Secretary of War under dale of the 3 lsl of May lasl, relative Lo the conduct, which Lhe troops under his Command ought to obser\'e, and in which he is charged anew with the preservation of public order. His Excellency rests with confidence in the zeal and patriotism for which your Excellency is distinguished; he therefore believes that his wishes will be accomplished; and this he directs me lo say to your Excellency in doing which I have the honor Lo offer to your Excellency my respectful consideration." By the command of his Excellency the Governor l transcribe the same to your honor for your instruction, in ord1•r that the above inserted Supreme resolution be punctually fulfilled in the department under your charge; and Lo that end your honor will cause the respective authorities lo givt' to it tht' 1wct~s:-nry publicity, and Lo lake care that it Ut' :-trictly obst•rvt'd:
