Sant Arma is in i\latamoras this day, and will embark as soon as possibly, all his desposible Lroops, for the Copano, with the exception of 400 for Anuhuach, the !alter ] expect arc, or will be had in a few days; the whole amount of troops will he from 4 to 5000, and Bejar, is lo be the [ illegible J depot, the last news that came, which have disturbed the people very much, is that it is the intention of Sant Anna, so bills the soldiers on the people, by placing 5 in each family, in [illegible), will their boarding washing and lodging at the expence of the individuals. 200 has actualy arrived and arc now in Goliad, and will march for Bejar, in a few days under the command of a Colonel----, who is to replace Ugartacha, the later I was informed by the Commandant of Goliad, was not considered by Sant Anna a whole hog man, which caused his removal, thus stands the affairs, as far as certain ifnromalion has been made known to me.- I have been requested to write to you to state the views of the majority of the people of this district who have come to the resolution, that if they are assisted by the other colonies, to march [illegible] by and take those 200 men, Goliad and Bejar, before any more reinforcements comes, and as the remainder of the detail, as they have to come in small number, the object can easily be effected, as the situation of the Country, and the [illegible], affords the greatest advantages for our defense,- Let it be no longer said, that the land speculations, were the primary cause of the arrest of our public authorities, for let any dispasionate observer, look al the letters of Cos, he will see that he has orders to arrest, and had given his orders accordingly to the officers of the different stations, to arrest them as soon as they attempted lo move, for like Lacakcus, Durango and Chihuahua, Texas would not consent lo have the militia disbanded, which was the object intended to pave the way, to the intentions to Sant Annas Dictatorship, with less opposition I shall be happy to hear from you on the receipt of this, and to know your opinion. l have but one more remark to make, and that is, that something must be done, and that quickly before all the troops arrive, if they arc permitted lo come amongst us, it will cost much trouble than whereas now, it will cost nothing comparatively.
