I write you by the politeness of Col Hill- who can give you more news than I can write at this time- The Cutler has been di~patched after the Montezuma- the people are warm in the cause of Texas - I am gratified to sec so much Interest for Texas as is now prevailing- I shall cherish and support her with all my might wherever I go= I shall be, as usual her steady and devoted friend- and my acts shall prove it- I will be back in the fall or sooner if possible- I leave for my aged Fathers in a day or two- who lives near Lexington Kentucky- Speak to the surveyors, for good selections of Land I will have Settlers- which will be an object to us - do not neglect Enquiring for good places to locate I shall come prepared to do all that you may reasonably wish, I almost think sometimes that was you ,~ith me .that you would Enjoy some pleasure Please write me to the care of James W. Ferguson New Orleans, Make my Respects to my Nibbs- and aJI friends Particularly Col. Austin & Williams, Johnson Ewing- Gay Christ- man and all who ask after me and for yourself my continual and steady friendship Robt. Wilson P S. I have just heard from high authority that Santa -ana is not our friend -that no doubt he will do all in his power against Texas look well lo windward and sec he does not surprise the Boys- Since I made the report of the outrages committed by the Montezuma, every day Brings forth more news of the Impos[ il lions committed on the coast- at Compeachy in particular - Also I have no douhts the United States will call the a!ITcsors to accounts - Texas - will he suportcd - in all cases - let ~hat come I am proud to Hail from
