You wiU receive important dispatches by the Bearer that Col Ugartachea and probably Gen Cos-are now on their march here, with all their forces to take the Gun if it is not delivered- You will see by Ugarlachea's letter to you, he proposes a sort of compromise. That will give us an opportunity to entertain him a LiUle while, upon the Suggestion that you are sent for, until we can get in more ment. We who subscribe this, request you earnestly lo come on immediatelys,, bringing all the aid you possible Can-we want powder and lead. Do all you can to sent on instantly as much as possible. P.W. [769) [LIBERTY MEETING]
At a meeting of the Committee of Safely for the i\lunici- pality of Liberty held at Liberty on the 6th October 1835, present Messers Tanner, Farley, Bryan, Lynch, Dovor, and Spiriks, the election of Chairman and Secretary had proceeded in, when Judge Tanner was elected Chairman and H. W. Farley was elected Secretary. On motion of M. Lynch it was proposed to send a number of our body to be present at San Felipe to act as a member of the permanent counsel to represent this committee: and on motion also of the Mr Lynch, Mr. Bryan was elected for that purpose. Resolved that the secretary give Mr Bryan a certificate of his election as a member of the San Felipe Committee. Resolved that Judge Tanner, Messrs Devon & Lynch be a committee with power to associate to themselves and otht>rs lo treat with the Indians in this Jurisdiction endeavor lo conciliate their rights and allay any excitement which may exist among them relative to their lands, and report to this committee the re:::ull of
