14 Nov 35 At a meeting of the citizens of Sabine District according to appointment al their adjournment 7 Nov the Several members of the Comt. Isaac Sow excepted being all present on the Motion of James Gaines Esq That Whereas such Intelligence having reached this committee as has confirmed therein the opinion that the consittution of this Republic is no longer in existance & that a change of Government has taken place unknown to & without the consent of the People Therefore be it Resolved that inasmuch as there are evils existing in Mexico to the prejudice of North Americans in Texas That we resist the Evils by joining with our countrymen & acting in concert with them as well in the field as in the Council-Resolved that James Gaines Esq. Wm Johnson & Wm Menes be authorized to raise & equip a company of Volunteers lo leave the district for the ----------on Saturday the 21st Ultim.- Resolved that the James Gaines Wm Johnson & Wm Menes is authorised to receive all subscription which can be raised for the expedition- Resolved that this coml Adjourn till Nov 21st Signed James Gaines Chairman ----------W Caufield Secretary ----------14 Nov-1835
