sent out an Escort to receive him. As a friend and patriot but lamentable to tell, this did not suit some Gentlemen who we~e of opinion that he should be recd. as the Gov. & head of Texas. this was verry near - causing a mutiny in the Town and did to a small extent. But by the firm & independant course of the commamlin(J' officer and~ declaration of Martial Law it ,_vas put clown and I hop~ harmony will he once more restore!. After our fight or frollick as they call it nothing better, is over nearly every one will want to go home and some actually without leave its true they ask for furlows or passports and have many excuses to get thare. This causes much discontent among those that have stood the brunt, and still willing to do so. for my own part I think if it was not for the firmness and perseverence of Capt. Dimitt and Ira Ingram his secty - that these men altho brave could not be kept together. I hope in a few days we can be ordered to Baher where the employment would keep them busy - I shall be much gratifyed to hear from you by the first posible chance. Your friend and obedient Servt.
