Sir I was in hopes to have had the pleasure seeing you al the last convention & fully intended lo do so, but circumstances prevented. But notwithstanding the length of lime, I have not forgoten you. And wish to God you were at the head of our Army - If you were I think the fate of Baker had long since been known. I hear much complaint and that score - I will now give you a short detail of the situation in which we the Vollenteers from Bay Prairie of which I am one, is placed on the 9th Oct last we Entered & took the place with a quantity of provision & other Stores all of which has been Published - But this threw us in the back Ground as respects Joining in the Sports of Baher if they have auy. But Sir we were not idle - Our commander Captain Dimitt sent out· a detachment of 40 men to reduce Lapanlachan on the Nuices - which they did. Killing 7 an wounding from 12 to 14 taking 2 cannon & some small arms & ammunition. On the return of the party the former Gov. Visca & suit came to this place i.!1 their company.
