Genl. S.F. Austin Dear Sir

I had the pleasure to address you upon your return to Texas, congratulating you on the same-Since that I addressed you by MV. Tarteno and now I take up my pen to inform you among other things, that I depart hence this day for San Felipe as a member for this place to the consultations or convention to be held there.-1 hope some of the first items taken to consideration will be the System.ising the relative situation and the powers and functions of officers and men under temporary or permanent command-Whether we are subject to Civil, or to military power and what we are fighting for, whether to establish Despotism or the liberties and rights of man and of Texas under the Constitution of 1824.-These doubts made by me, may seem strange when you r~collect I was an _advocat~ for the_just cause in !832. and at that llme offered the aid of this Lown m support of national liberty but you :will no longer be surprised at my doubts
