To the President of the Counsel of Texas Dr. Sir

This Committee beg to inclose a printed Copy of a Letter recd. this morning from San Augustin together with other impor- tant documents, for the information of the Counsel, at the Same time we beg to mention that their actions have been much crippled by being deprived of the Public funds, the whole available amount having been delivered to Mr. Menard, notwithstanding however they have provided the Volunteers from N. Orleans and San Augustin with Necessary supplies by private subscription, and inasmuch as the Public funds are entirely exhausted we would be very glad You would remit to this Committee some funds lo meet necessary expences, say fifteen hundred to two thousand dollars. it must evidently appear lo You that a great burthcn of expcnces has devolved on this place, as we have already subscribed upwords of Ten Thousand dollars and are daily pledging ourselves and property for the purchase of Horses and other necessary supplies. the President of this Committee has been obliged Lo to advance money and pledge his own credit lo obtain Horses. The bearer may require a horse you will furnish him ,vith one. Jorge Antu Nixon Clunr
